Fokeev V.A. Bibliography. Informatics: Terminological Dictionary / V.A. Fokeev. – M.: Litera, 2009. – 488 p.

The terminological dictionary is a set of more than 3000 terms with lapidary definitions directly on the theory, methodology, organization, technology of electronic bibliography. Definitions of the main terms are given state standards with an indication of specific GOSTs.

From the compiler

The purpose of this work is to present the conceptual apparatus of modern bibliography as something integral, consisting of traditional and the latest, electronic-technological components. Each concept presented in the dictionary is accompanied by a lapidary definition, most often already established in professional communication. At the same time, we offer the professional community a number of new definitions concerning the leading concepts of the electronic bibliographic sphere. As a rule, the new definitions we propose are the result of our bibliographic research activities, the development of a noosphere-culturological concept of bibliography, and are of a conceptual nature.

Bibliographic terms are reflected in the dictionary with the greatest possible completeness. Informatics terms are included selectively according to the criterion of their methodological significance for bibliographic science and practice. The array of computer technology terms was formed according to the criterion of their necessity and sufficiency for use in the field of bibliographic activity.

In total, the dictionary includes more than three thousand terms, some of which are general scientific, related to related branches of knowledge (library science, book science, document science, computer science, computer technology, etc.), but are widely used in bibliographic science and practice. Terms and definitions are given in Russian. Their foreign-language originals and equivalents are not indicated.

As you know, when compiling terminological dictionaries like ours, one can proceed from two positions: a narrow one, when only a limited range of terms is taken into account, directly related to a limited subject area, and a broad one, in which contexts are taken into account, the metasystem of the sphere under consideration, boundary intersectoral complexes of concepts. In our opinion, it is more productive to represent the term system of electronic bibliography as broadly as possible with all its relationships with the conceptual apparatus of informatics, computer technology, etc.

Core conceptual apparatus, presented in the dictionary, are terms of the subject area of bibliographic science and practice, issues of production and functioning of bibliographic information in the electronic environment. We pay considerable attention to the technological scientific information context, the metasystem of electronic bibliography, which explains the inclusion of a significant number of terms related to electronic communications and computer technology.

Dictionary sources - existing terminological dictionaries and encyclopedias, monographs, study guides and research papers on library and book science, information and bibliographic activities, library science, book science, bibliography, computer science. A short list of them is given at the end of the book. As the main sources for identifying terms and definitions in librarianship and bibliography, the “Library Encyclopedia” (M., 2007), the dictionary “Library Business (M., 1997), “Terminological Dictionary of Library Science and Related Branches of Knowledge” (M. , 1995), and on computer science and computer technology - the dictionary of V. Voroisky “Informatics. New Dictionary» (M., 2001). We also turned to the terminological resources of the Internet.

The last decade has been an important stage in the development of terminology standardization in the System of Standards for Information, Librarianship and Publishing (SIBID). Previously approved standards were revised and supplemented, while it was possible to solve the problems of harmonizing the terminological systems of scientific information activities, bibliography and librarianship.

The total number of standardized terms within SIBID exceeded eight hundred.

The terminological dictionary contains an alphabetical list of terms standardized in terminological standards, as well as included in the sections "Terms and definitions" and terminological appendices of non-terminological standards of SIBID. At the same time, priority in this edition is given to the tested definitions, and, if necessary, their additions or alternative definitions are given.

The structure of the dictionary is due to the fact that it is an alphabetical list of terms with brief definitions, reference and reference headings. All terms in the dictionary are arranged in alphabetical order, in the form that is accepted in the standards and dictionaries. After the naming of standardized terms in italics, the number of the standard is indicated.

in Russia in 2012

Dictionary - reference book includes about 2000 terms and is addressed to librarians, employees of facilities mass media and other specialists who work with socio-economic and legal literature. When compiling it, the interest in such modern topics as: social politics, national identity, currency regulation, securities, etc. For meaningfully close concepts, a system of links is widely used, which helps to better understand the terminological system and makes it possible to get acquainted with several articles that complement each other.

In preparing this dictionary, the compilers used separate editions recent years on socio-economic topics, as well as materials from various dictionaries and encyclopedias.

The work on compiling, editing and creating an electronic version of the terminological dictionary was carried out by specialists of the Russian National Library.

Terminological dictionary of a librarian on socio-economic topics. Electronic version .

In the future, it is planned to equip all concepts with their foreign counterparts, include new terms, and improve search programs.

Religious terms and concepts

The development of a dictionary of terms on religion is a continuation of the work on compiling a terminological dictionary on socio-economic topics (electronic version). This edition is not normative and contains a certain minimum of concepts (about 1000), arranged in alphabetical order. The emergence of a large mass of religious literature of various kinds, its versatility and complexity raises many questions both among ordinary readers and indexers who should process these materials. The dictionary is addressed primarily to librarians, as well as to a wide range of users who wish to receive introductory information.
Its main components are the reference article, which consists of a title that identifies its topic, text, and links. The target orientation of the publication determined its unconventionality. The peculiarity is that in addition to the above structural elements, they are supplemented with LBC indexes for tables for scientific libraries, Vol. XXII, and according to tables for regional libraries, Vol. 4, which will help to significantly facilitate the work of the indexer when processing religious literature.

The work on the dictionary is carried out using the accumulated experience of indexing the relevant literature and maintaining a terminological file. However, it should be borne in mind that this edition will take into account a wide range of interests. Special attention given to the interpretation of concepts related to world religions (Christianity, Islam, Buddhism). The dictionary uses the system of references, linking references and abbreviations common to reference publications. Links to related topics provide local help.

The compilers hope that the proposed version of the publication is able to satisfy the basic needs for reference and terminological information to the extent necessary for a general idea of religious processes and phenomena.

The first electronic version of the dictionary is placed on the server for review. See Glossary of Religious Terms. Electronic version .

Pedagogical terms and concepts

The terminological dictionary on pedagogy is intended primarily for librarians and teachers, but will be of interest to psychologists, sociologists, as well as students and applicants. The dictionary is a continuation of the electronic version of the Librarian's Terminological Dictionary, which has two previous parts: "Social and Economic Terms and Concepts" and "Religious Terms and Concepts", which were prepared by the staff of the National Library of Russia in 1998-2001.

The electronic version of the dictionary is based on contemporary sources(current literature of recent years): encyclopedic dictionaries, reference books on pedagogy, individual author's works and articles. When compiling it, such authoritative publications as the Pedagogical encyclopedic Dictionary"Edited by B. M. Bim-Bad, published in 2002, and" Dictionary of Education and Pedagogy "edited by V. M. Polonsky, published in 2004. These publications form the main base this dictionary.

The compilers of this dictionary turned to the history of the development of the term to clarify the original meaning of the word and the origins of the term (primary language); in addition to the usual dictionary entry (term and definition), they used a system of references and references ("see" and "see also"). For example, links are provided to the names of the creators of new terms. If the concept does not have a generally accepted definition, several interpretations are given. Each definition has a link to the source of information, indicating pages. Where it is necessary and possible, to help the indexer, after the dictionary entry, the index is indicated by LBC tables for scientific libraries.

This dictionary contains about 3 thousand terms and concepts (2,797 entries).

The first electronic version of the dictionary is placed on the server for review. See Pedagogy Terminological Dictionary. Electronic version .

Terminological dictionary for the preservation of documents

A bilingual English-Russian translation dictionary of equivalents of words and expressions used in such a specific area as the conservation of documents on paper.

Created by the joint efforts of three libraries: The Library foreign literature named after M.I. Rudomino, Russian state library and the Russian National Library. Each library translated its own part of the dictionary, followed by the exchange of translations and mutual correction. The translation took into account the German and French equivalents. The terminological dictionary for the preservation of documents in five languages, created by the National Library of Hungary, was taken as a basis.

To narrow the search results, you can refine the query by specifying the fields to search on. The list of fields is presented above. For instance:

You can search across multiple fields at the same time:

logical operators

The default operator is AND.
Operator AND means that the document must match all the elements in the group:

research development

Operator OR means that the document must match one of the values in the group:

study OR development

Operator NOT excludes documents containing this element:

study NOT development

Search type

When writing a query, you can specify the way in which the phrase will be searched. Four methods are supported: search based on morphology, without morphology, search for a prefix, search for a phrase.
By default, the search is based on morphology.
To search without morphology, it is enough to put the "dollar" sign before the words in the phrase:

$ study $ development

To search for a prefix, you need to put an asterisk after the query:

study *

To search for a phrase, you need to enclose the query in double quotes:

" research and development "

Search by synonyms

To include synonyms of a word in the search results, put a hash mark " # " before a word or before an expression in brackets.
When applied to one word, up to three synonyms will be found for it.
When applied to a parenthesized expression, a synonym will be added to each word if one was found.
Not compatible with no-morphology, prefix, or phrase searches.

# study

grouping

Parentheses are used to group search phrases. This allows you to control the boolean logic of the request.
For example, you need to make a request: find documents whose author is Ivanov or Petrov, and the title contains the words research or development:

Approximate word search

For approximate search you need to put a tilde " ~ " at the end of a word in a phrase. For example:

bromine ~

The search will find words such as "bromine", "rum", "prom", etc.
You can optionally specify the maximum number of possible edits: 0, 1, or 2. For example:

bromine ~1

The default is 2 edits.

Proximity criterion

To search by proximity, you need to put a tilde " ~ " at the end of a phrase. For example, to find documents with the words research and development within 2 words, use the following query:

" research development "~2

Expression relevance

To change the relevance of individual expressions in the search, use the sign " ^ " at the end of an expression, and then indicate the level of relevance of this expression in relation to the others.
The higher the level, the more relevant the given expression.
For example, in this expression, the word "research" is four times more relevant than the word "development":

study ^4 development

By default, the level is 1. Valid values are a positive real number.

Search within an interval

To specify the interval in which the value of some field should be, you should specify the boundary values in brackets, separated by the operator TO.
A lexicographic sort will be performed.

Such a query will return results with the author starting from Ivanov and ending with Petrov, but Ivanov and Petrov will not be included in the result.
To include a value in an interval, use square brackets. Use curly braces to escape a value.
