Where do people go? Incredible stories of mass disappearance of people Find out the reason for the disappearance of people.

There is a world, and maybe many worlds, parallel to ours.

Louis Powell. Jacques Bergier. "Morning of the Magicians"

Statistics say that about two million people disappear without a trace every year on Earth. The vast majority of such disappearances are explained by completely natural causes: murders, accidents, natural disasters... Sometimes people "disappear" of their own accord. But some incidents do not fit into the usual framework.

Unless you take into account the existence of parallel worlds.

Chronicle of mysterious disappearances

Many cases have been recorded when people disappeared right in front of many witnesses. And there is no explanation for this yet.

Ancient Greece. During the battle, one of the warriors, at whom a dart was thrown, melted into the air. And in the place where he stood, his weapons, shield and fatal dart remained to lie. In ancient times, such disappearances of people happened quite often, so others did not see anything unusual in them, and did not focus much attention.

On October 25, 1593, a soldier in an incomprehensible form appeared in Mexico City unexpectedly, "as if from heaven", saying that he had just been on duty at the palace of the governor of Manila (Philippines - 17 thousand km from Mexico!) And saw how he was treacherously killed. The soldier himself could not understand how he suddenly found himself in a completely unfamiliar place. The ending of this story is sad - the unfortunate man fell under the court of the Inquisition ... and only a few months later the sailors who sailed confirmed all the details of the tragedy described in the story of the Filipino sentry.

On May 3, 1753, the respected craftsman Alberto Gorodoni was walking through the courtyard of the castle of Count Zanetti (Italy, Sicily, Tacona), and suddenly disappeared out of the blue, “evaporated” in front of his wife, Count Zanetti and many other tribesmen. The astonished people dug everything around, but did not find any deepening where they could fall through ... Exactly 22 years later, Gordoni appeared again, appeared in the same place from where he disappeared - in the courtyard of the estate.

Alberto himself claimed that he did not disappear anywhere, so he was placed in an insane asylum, where only after 7 years the priest, Father Mario, spoke to him for the first time. The craftsman still had the feeling that very little time had passed between his "disappearance" and his "return". Then, 29 years ago, Alberto suddenly fell into a kind of tunnel and went out through it to the "white and obscure" light. There were no objects, only bizarre contraptions. Alberto saw something that looked like a small canvas, covered in stars and dots, each of which pulsated in its own way. There was one elongated creature with long hair, who said that he fell into the "crack" of Time and Space and it is very difficult to bring him back. While Alberto was waiting for his return - and he fervently asked to be brought back - the "woman" told him about "holes that open in the dark, about some white drops and thoughts that move at the speed of light (!), about souls without flesh and body without a soul, about flying cities in which the inhabitants are forever young. Mario's father was sure that the craftsman was not lying, and therefore went with him to Takona. There poor Alberto took a step and... disappeared again! Now it's forever.

XVIII century, Germany, the village of Perelberg. British diplomat Benjamin Bethurst disappeared before the eyes of his friend. His search was unsuccessful.

1867, Paris. Before the eyes of Dr. Bonvilina, his neighbor Lucien Busier, who came to consult about his health, mysteriously disappeared. Boussier undressed and lay down on the couch, while Dr. Bonvilin went back to the table for a moment. When the doctor turned to the couch, there was no one on it, but Lucien's clothes were left lying on a chair nearby. Where the naked man went was a mystery.

A widely known story allegedly took place on September 23, 1880 in the USA, Tennessee, Sumner County, Gallatin. In the courtyard of his farm, in front of his wife Emma, children, judge August Peck and his relative, farmer David Lang vanished into thin air. His search turned up nothing. (In the 1960s, Herschel G. Pyne, a Nashville librarian who spent several years trying to figure out this mystery, found no evidence in the archives that the Lang family or a man named August Peck ever lived in Sumner County. Pyne concluded that the story of the mysterious disappearance was just a hoax).

... "Daily Chronicle", July 30, 1889. "Mr. McMillian, a member of the family of the owners of the famous publishing house McMillian, climbed the top of Mount Olympus (Greece), waved his hand to his friends, and then disappeared. Despite a thorough search and a reward, he was never found ... "

1915, Galipoli peninsula (Turkey). General Hamilton sent parts of the British Norfolk Regiment to help the Allies to capture Constantinople. Near the height of N60, a strange cloud thickened on the road in front of the marching column. Several hundred soldiers recklessly entered it. Then the cloud broke away from the ground and sailed away towards Bulgaria. The soldiers who entered it were never seen again. After the capitulation of Turkey, when the issue of prisoners was discussed, the last hope of finding them disappeared. It turned out that the Turks did not take anyone prisoner in that area.

1924, Iraq. Royal Air Force pilots Day and Stewart made an emergency landing in the desert. Their footprints, leading away from the plane, were clearly visible in the sand. But soon they broke off ... The pilots themselves were never found, although there were no quicksands or abandoned wells around the emergency landing site ... There were no sandstorms that day ...

1930, the Eskimo village of Angikuni (Northern Canada). All the inhabitants disappeared without a trace. In empty dwellings there were clothes, food over the cooled hearths and even rifles, without which, as you know, not a single Eskimo will ever leave the house. Hunter Joe Leibel, who first discovered that the village was deserted, also reported that even the graves in the village cemetery were empty. The dead disappeared along with the living...

In 1936, a group of geologists settled in the village of Elizaveta near Krasnoyarsk. A few days later, returning home after another route, geologists saw a completely extinct village. Things in the houses remained untouched. There were two bicycles lying on the main village street. One of the geologists, now a professor, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences Barsukov, still remembers with a shudder the horror that they experienced when they tried to enter a house whose door was closed from the inside! I had to break the glass, and then it turned out that the door was barricaded from the inside with household utensils. A family of four adults and three children lived in the house. Geologists reported the incident to the local department of the NKVD, and a car with employees quickly arrived from there. However, the investigation was unsuccessful, and the geologists took a subscription not to disclose information about this case. As Barsukov later said, after some time he was summoned to Moscow to the NKVD, where he again testified ...

Another mysterious story with the disappearance of a large number of soldiers occurred in December 1937 during the hostilities between China and Japan. Chinese General Li Fushi sent a detachment of 3,000 fighters to detain the enemy at the turn of the Yangtze River. The next day, his scouts reported that the entire detachment had disappeared, although no signs of battle were found, and no dead bodies were found. If the soldiers had retreated, they would have been forced to cross the bridge, but the general's unit was located near the bridge, which could not fail to notice so many people. Repeatedly, the Chinese government has tried to reveal the secret of the disappearance of these 3 thousand soldiers, but so far it has remained unsolved. Neither in the Japanese archives, nor in the testimonies of the military, is there any evidence that this detachment was captured or destroyed.

1947 Suddenly lost control and crashed in the Rocky Mountains (USA) plane "C-46", on board which were 32 people. In vain, rescuers rushed to the scene of the accident to help the victims. Among the wreckage of the plane was neither alive nor dead. There was no blood or other traces to confirm that at least one person was on board the plane at the time of the accident. The special services became interested in the case, but their search ended in nothing. The idea was put forward that people disappeared from the plane in the air!

Ex-serviceman James Tetforth disappeared on December 1, 1949 from an overcrowded bus. Thetford, along with fourteen other passengers, was on his way to his home in Bennington, Vermont. He was last seen dozing in his seat. When the bus arrived at its destination, Thetford had evaporated, although all his belongings were left in the trunk, and the bus schedule lay on an empty seat. Since then, Thetford has never been seen again.

On the evening of November 23, 1953, the most mysterious event in UFO surveillance occurred - Air Force radars near Lake Michigan, Wisconsin in the United States spotted an unidentified flying object. The F-89C Scorpio fighter was immediately raised to intercept it from Kingross Air Force Base. The aircraft was flown by First Lieutenant Felix Monkla, and Lieutenant Robert Wilson was the fighter's radar operator at the time. As ground operators subsequently claimed, the fighter approached an unidentified object, and then both of them, merging together, disappeared from the radar screens. A search and rescue operation was organized, but the wreckage of the aircraft could not be found.

In 1975, American Jackson Wright was driving with his wife from New Jersey to New York. After passing the Lincoln Tunnel, Wright stopped the car to wipe the fogged windows. His wife Martha got out of the car to wipe the rear window. When Wright turned around, he did not see his wife. According to the man, he did not hear or see anything unusual, and the subsequent investigation did not reveal any evidence of a violent death. Martha Wright simply disappeared.

In 1980, on the outskirts of Paris, Cergy-Pontauz, 19-year-old Frank Fontaine disappeared after his pickup truck was hit by a brightly glowing fog ball. Appearing again at the same place exactly a week later, Frank for a long time believed that he had been absent for some five minutes. ("Volgogradskaya Pravda", 2.04.1983; reports of Agence France-Presse, "Reuters", newspaper "Tribune de Lausanne", Switzerland for 1983).

At noon on September 1, 1985, on the first day of the new school year, Vlad Geineman, a second-grader of the 67th Moscow school, ran out into the street during recess, played "war" with his friends, threw a "grenade" (in the form of a stone) several times, and wishing to deceive the enemy, he dived into a dark narrow passage between the walls ... When, after a couple of seconds, he jumped out from the other side, he did not recognize the schoolyard. Just full of kids, now it was completely empty. Has the bell rung? Vlad rushed to school, but there he was stopped by his stepfather, who, as it turned out, had been looking for him for a long time to take him home from school. The lessons ended a long time ago, all the children went home. The break, when Vlad dived into the passage, was supposed to end at 11.30, and now it was already 13.00. Where did he spend an hour and a half?.. According to Vlad Aleksandrovich, in 1993, several psychic acquaintances from Sverdlovsk tried, at his request, to reveal this secret, hypnotized him, but "stumbled, as it were, on a black wall", some old people were remembered, and otherwise, the memory was completely blocked. He did not try to appear in the same passage again ...

In 1987, our press reported on the disappearance of a small amateur expedition from Tomsk, which set off in search of a mysterious "devil's lair" - a clearing with bare earth, on which all life perished. However, the true story of the disappeared expedition came to light only recently.

There was one girl in the group. Two guys were from Novosibirsk. It was assumed that at the point where the group got off the train, two local enthusiasts would join it. All the guys were experienced tourists, they walked through the Siberian taiga more than once, they had firearms and signal equipment with them. In Tomsk, they boarded a train and, according to the testimony of the train crew, all got off the train safely at the designated place. And then strange things began: two local enthusiasts who were supposed to join the expedition were told that the train from Tomsk was three hours late, and they went home to wait out this time. But the driver reduced the delay to two hours, and when the enthusiasts came to the station again, the train had already left. No one saw the guys who arrived from Tomsk. The station attendant said something unintelligible like: "Some guys got off the train," but where they went is unknown. A day later, a telegram sent to Tomsk received an answer that the group had left exactly at the appointed time.

Unfortunately, the police joined the search only three days later, when the people who could see the guys had already left. Nobody saw them anywhere else... It seemed that the group disappeared immediately after leaving the train.

In the late 1980s and early 90s, the Hong Kong newspaper Wen Wen Po wrote several times about an unusual boy known as Yung Li Cheng. In a brief summary, his tangled story looks like this: in 1987, a boy came to the local Hong Kong scientists (you can understand that we are talking about psychiatrists) for research, claiming that he "came from the past." The result of the study (a survey of a boy with great predilection) greatly confused someone - the "newcomer" spoke the ancient Chinese language well, retold the biographies of long-dead celebrities, knew the history of the past of China and Japan well beyond his years, mentioned many events that were mentioned in the present was either not remembered at all, or only a very limited circle of historians, highly specialized in certain periods or events, knew.

The strange boy was also dressed in the same way as the inhabitants of Ancient China dressed, so his appearance was either a well-planned "provocation" of some powerful organization (for example, a television company) seeking to get a sensation, or ... Believe in the version of it was difficult for the boy, besides, he himself did not understand how he got to the modern city of Hong Kong.

However, according to the newspaper, the historian Ying Ying Shao decided to check the not too harmonious boyish story and delved into the study of ancient books stored in the temples. Finally, in one of the books, his attention was drawn to stories that were almost completely identical with Yung Lee's oral retellings, all dates, names of places and names of specific people coincided. In one place, the historian came across a record about the place and date of birth of the boy, he was almost sure that it was about "his boy", but in order to be completely convinced of the amazing discovery, it was necessary to talk with Yung Lee again ... However , already in May 1988, having spent only a year in our Time, the traveler boy suddenly disappeared for everyone, no one else saw him ...

The frustrated historian Ying Ying Shao again sat down at the books and in one of them immediately after the name "Yung Li Cheng" found the following entry: reckoning, saw huge birds, large magic mirrors, boxes that reach the clouds, multi-colored lights that go on and off, wide streets decorated with marble that rode in a long snake that crawls at monstrous speed.Deemed crazy and died after 3 weeks ..."

To this list, you can add ships that mysteriously "lost" their crews on the high seas. It is enough to recall the famous story with the ship "", which was discovered near the Azores. The disappeared people did not take anything with them - neither things, nor even money ...

In 1955, the American yacht MV Elite was seen in the Pacific Ocean with no trace of the crew, but with a full supply of water, food and intact life-saving equipment.

In a similar state, five years later, two British yachts were noticed in the Atlantic. In 1970, the crew from the British cargo ship Milton mysteriously disappeared. In 1973, the Norwegian fishing "Anna" crashed - there were witnesses of her death from other ships, who said that there was no crew on deck.

2006 The coast guard off the coast of Sardinia spotted the abandoned two-masted sailboat Bel Amica (Beautiful Friend). The team, as usual, was not. On board were the remains of food, French geographical maps and the flag of Luxembourg. The police suspected that the ship was used by drug smugglers. But after examination by specially trained dogs, this version disappeared.

2006 Also, the tanker "Yan Seng" was found near Australia. Not a single person on board.

2007 An empty 12m Kaz II catamaran was found drifting northeast of Australia. When rescuers landed on it, they found that the ship's engine was running, the laptop and GPS were on, and the table was set. All life-saving equipment remained on board. The sails are also raised, but badly damaged. Presumably, the crew consisted of three people.

2008 The Japan Maritime Safety Authority announced the discovery in the Sea of Japan of a drifting pontoons (a cargo ship used for reloading operations in roads and in ports) without a name, number and people on board.

The version about "parallel worlds" and other dimensions is supported not only by cases of "disappearances", but also by the facts of no less mysterious "appearances".

Charles Fort, a prominent researcher of paranormal phenomena, described in the magazine "Look" the case of a strange appearance on the evening of January 6, 1914 on High Street in Chatham (England) of one person. The strange thing was that the man, as it seemed to him, appeared out of thin air, completely naked, on a very cold evening. He "ran up and down the street until a policeman caught him." It was impossible to understand what he was saying, so the doctors considered him "insane".

"This naked man appeared suddenly in Chatham No one saw him go to the place of appearance His clothes were searched, but not found No one in the vicinity of Chatham was wanted"

In the journals of the early twentieth century, you can find a message that in Paris the police detained a man who had lost his memory. In his pocket they found a map of the planet - but it was not our Earth!

Another "alien from parallel worlds" appeared in 1954 in Japan. A suspicious foreigner was detained in one of the hotels. In principle, his passport was in perfect order - with one exception: it was issued in the country of Tuared, which does not appear on any map. Outraged by distrust, the foreigner gave a press conference for journalists, where he said that the country of Tuared stretched from Mauritania to Sudan. As a result, the foreigner ended up in a Japanese lunatic asylum. But the mystery of the passport issued by an unknown country was never solved...

Baba Yaga's hut and Koshchei's lodge

Here is a strange story that happened near St. Petersburg (near the Sosnovo station) in the summer of 1993. According to the participants, this was the case.

Together with two comrades who work with him in the same design bureau, Alexei Ivanovich Volzhanin went on a traditional fishing trip. On Friday, they loaded into an old "Moskvich" and hit the road. The road from St. Petersburg to the Karelian Isthmus takes only a few hours.

Friends have long discovered these places for themselves, and the trip scheme has been worked out to the last detail.

But this time, everything went wrong. They were already approaching the cherished place when a thunderstorm broke out. Lightning struck the trees surrounding the road in a dense formation, reflected in the asphalt wet from the rain. One of the flashes was so close and strong that Volzhanin, who was driving, was momentarily blind. This moment almost became fatal for friends. The car jumped off the highway and hit the right rear door on a thick centuries-old pine ...

True, Aleksey Ivanovich himself (an experienced driver, by the way - with a long accident-free record) later claimed that he had left the road not at all because of lightning, but because a silhouette of some kind of monster appeared in front of the hood of the car - a furry monster with burning eyes. But since none of the friends saw the unknown creature anymore, let's forget about its existence. As they say, for lack of material evidence.

So, an accident occurred ... Volzhanin and Sigalev, who were sitting in front, escaped with a slight fright. Worse was the design engineer of the first category, Semen Yakovlevich Elbman. He was seriously injured - fragments of the side glass cut his skin on his forehead. In addition, apparently, he also received a concussion, because when his friends pulled him out of the car, he could not stand on his wobbly legs.

What were unlucky travelers to do? The nearest station is several tens of kilometers away. With a wounded comrade, it is not easy to defeat them. And here, as luck would have it, not a single car was on the highway. It is good that Sigalev noticed a light nearby - it was the window of a small house.

Leaving the car, friends grabbed Elbman under the armpits and led him to the hut, which towered on stilts over a small stream.

“Hut, hut, stand in front of me, back to the forest,” I joked back then, Volzhanin recalls. - They climbed the slippery steps of the high porch. An old woman opened the door at a knock. And again I had the feeling that we were in a fairy tale - well, the real Baba Yaga ... "About nothing, without asking, without saying anything, she stepped back, letting wet and unfortunate fishermen into the house.

Now, in hindsight, I understand that everything in this story is a pile of absurdities, - A. Volzhanin admits. - Where did the house come from where we have never seen it, although we know those places "from and to"? But at that moment we were like bewitched - we were not surprised at anything. A hut on chicken legs? Very handy too! A candle on a table in an old candlestick? So, maybe the power went out from the storm! A strange hostess who did not utter a single word during the entire meeting? Or maybe she's dumb!

The woman fed the poor fellows with hot soup, washed Elbman's wound with some kind of decoction, made a compress on his forehead ... Tired, they lay down on the beds, on the floor of the blanket and fell asleep soundly. And in the morning we woke up under the open sky!

It was like an obsession, friends say. - The hospitable house has disappeared. Instead, there were half-collapsed walls made of granite boulders. We carefully examined these ruins with empty openings instead of doors and windows - no signs of life ... Apparently, it was an old water mill, which has remained in these places since the Finnish war. But where did the house where we spent the night disappear to? Didn't they transfer us sleepy to a new place? And there are no houses there. Later we checked it out - no housing around. And one more oddity - in the morning it turned out that only a thin brown stripe remained from the wound on Semyon Yakovlevich's forehead, and even that soon turned pale and disappeared.

Here is another similar incident. The book "Spirits and Legends of Wiltshire Territory" gives such a fact. In 1973, a certain Edna Hajis was cycling along Ermine Street (Old Roman Road), which lies in the vicinity of Swindon (England). A thunderstorm began ... Edna got off her bike and, noticing a small house by the side of the road, decided to wait out the bad weather in it. A stern old man lived in the house, who allowed the girl to sit out the rain, but at the same time he didn’t say a single word to me ...

Then Edna found herself cycling down the road again. How and under what circumstances, she left the house, she could not remember, no matter how hard she tried. And at home, as it turned out later, it had never happened in those places ... Among other things, the friends who were waiting for Edna noticed that her clothes were completely dry, although they themselves were soaked through in the rain, waiting for the girl.

Just trance?

It is tempting, of course, by combining these stories, to assume that from time to time in our space the doors to "fabulous worlds" open. But... According to psychologists, the key to this phenomenon is completely different: mirage houses do not appear in reality, but only in our mental perception as a result of a hypnotic trance.

A person can fall into this state even without the participation of a hypnotist, but spontaneously - under the influence of a monotonous road, or from the uniform noise of rain, or from a sudden flash of lightning ... Remember that in the case of A. Volzhanin, as well as in the story that happened with Edna Hajis, it was both, and the other, and the third.

As experiments show, the sensations of a person during a trance in their brightness and naturalness practically do not differ from real impressions. The deceived sense organs, driven by the fantasies of the brain, give out such detailed pictures that it is then almost impossible to distinguish them from real memories.

Doctor of Medical Sciences V. Fayvishevsky, analyzing such cases, draws attention to the fact that when leaving a state of trance, people often experience vegetative disorders - dizziness, coordination of movements is slightly disturbed, a person often does not remember the transition from a hypnotic state to a real one.

All these signs are present in the stories of the same Volzhanin (and Edna Hadjis), which indirectly confirms that they experienced their adventures not in reality, but in a state of altered consciousness. However, this version, although it looks quite convincing and authoritative, is just a "cabinet hypothesis", that is, it was put forward without studying the details of each specific incident directly on the spot. And therefore, there is at least a tiny, but a chance that the described events could have taken place in reality. After all, some scientists believe that so-called "parallel worlds" may exist next to our world, and sometimes they touch - the passages open during powerful energy emissions. So lightning may well serve as a "key" to the doors to such a world.

Who replaced Sasha?

A mysterious "falling out" from our world took place in the Moscow region in the village of Kratovo. For three days they searched in the forest "as if a teenager had fallen through the ground." In vain. And when he appeared on the threshold of his house, the mother fainted - the boy was covered in blood from head to toe ...

Where was Sasha, what happened to him? He himself could not answer these questions. And the mysterious incident settled in the archives of specialists involved in the study of anomalous phenomena. But according to indirect data, it can be assumed that the boy has been ... in a different time and in a different dimension. At least, this is the hypothesis put forward by some experts. However, here is how this story looks like in the presentation of the now adult Alexander Selikov:

“It happened on January 20, 1973. I was then less than fifteen years old. I loved walking in the forest alone and even built myself a hut on a tall pine tree. It was about seventeen meters high. I climbed there that day.

It was cold - about 22 degrees below zero, sunny and windless. Nothing special happened around me, at least I don't remember anything like that. And yet something happened, because I woke up already in the snow under the pine tree. I open my eyes - above me is the starry sky. There is no hat, his whole face is somehow sticky, his hands too ... He got up, as if in a semi-consciousness, and wandered home. And there ... In short, it turned out that they had been looking for me for three days. My mother fainted when she saw me. I was all covered in blood - my face, my hands ... But when they washed me, it turned out that there was not a scratch or a bruise on my body. I didn't even get cold feet! The next day, as if nothing had happened, I went to school. But...

Those who knew me well began to openly say: "Our Sasha was replaced!" And I really became somehow different. Both the worldview and the train of thought have changed - even the handwriting has become different! Before that, he was fond of astronomy, and after that he abruptly lost interest in it. But there was an inexplicable ability to easily understand even unfamiliar electronic equipment. Since then, this has been my main occupation ... "

How did the unconscious boy manage to survive in the forest (without a hat!) for three days in 22-degree frost and not freeze? How did he end up (albeit bloody, but alive and unharmed) under a pine tree? After all, parents, knowing where their son "made a nest", first of all checked that place! Whose blood was on the teenager? Unfortunately, there are no reliable answers to all these questions.

Incredible - obvious?

An incredible thing happened to us - in 1993, employees of one of the Moscow firms turned to the Phenomenon commission: S. Kameev, general director, B. Ivashenko, commercial director, and O. Karatyan, an employee of the same company (surnames have been changed). The conversation began with the "general".

I read somewhere that the experiments of scientists show that with the help of electromagnetic fields it is possible to change the flow of time and “punch” a passage into another space. I believe it's real. And how else can we explain what we have witnessed?

The story told by S. Kameev and his comrades turned out to be really unusual. And several Phenomenon experts decided to go to the scene (to the Ostankino TV tower) for an “investigative experiment”.

“... We were standing here,” Sergei Ivanovich Kameev drew a line with the toe of his boot. “Oleg Karatyan was walking towards us. began. The air boomed in a bass voice - not loudly, but so much that it hurt my ears. I looked up and saw that a reddish glow was spreading around the TV tower. Then suddenly its "image" blurred, blinked, and the tower "appeared" much closer. Here Ivashenko shouted, "Oleg! Oleg!" forward, to where Karatyan should have been, but our feet seemed to be rooted to the ground. I don’t know how long we stood there - maybe a minute, maybe all ten. The area was absolutely deserted. Not a single person around. Not a single place where it would be possible to scurry. And some black horror boiled in my heart. It's not even that, together with Oleg, the diplomat also disappeared with a large amount of money, which he was supposed to hand over to us. Our friend disappeared so suddenly, as if he had been erased from a piece of paper with a rubber band. Then the buzz intensified, the surface of the square began to somehow imperceptibly stretch and ... we saw Oleg again. The puddle through which he climbed also returned to its place ... "

According to Karatyan himself, he didn’t feel anything special, he didn’t even notice that he was “disappearing”. When the friends decided to check their watches to find out how long Oleg had been away, being in a "different dimension", it turned out that his "Commander's" stood up. Kameev is sure that Oleg fell into the "fold of space", formed due to the operation of the generators on the TV tower, and returned only by a miracle. And the reddish haze that flickered in the air was a manifested chronal (temporal) field. Well, he is not the first to put forward such a version ...

The experts of the commission "Phenomenon" conducted a dowsing survey of the area where the mysterious incident occurred. The frames fixed the "geopathogenic zone" in the very place where Oleg Karatyan "disappeared". But instrumental measurements did not register any fields whatsoever. However, that's how it should have been. The foot of the tower is in a kind of "electromagnetic shadow", and the radiation of TV transmitters does not get there. Consequently, the version that the “wrinkling” of space is caused by powerful electromagnetic fields does not work. Then what was it? Maybe there are other reasons for "wrinkling"? And was it all?

There are many more mysteries in this story. For example, the red glow that appeared around the TV tower. We found several other eyewitnesses who observed him that day.

By the way, A. Maksimov from the city of Balakovo, who has been studying the properties of time and “chronal” zones for a long time, warns: “Tell the researchers of anomalous zones to beware of red fog!”

It is too early to draw final conclusions. So far, one thing is clear - studies of anomalous zones should be carried out at a more serious level. And at the same time, scientists should remember the numerous legends about the victims of the “crimson fog”. Perhaps this will protect them from hasty decisions and risky steps.

Time loop

Another explanation that researchers are trying to understand the mysterious phenomenon is a spontaneous reversal in time. The British Royal Metapsychic Society has been studying the possibility of such travel for 150 years. In its archives, more than 200 cases of the phenomenon, conventionally referred to as the "Loop of time", have been collected in detail, confirmed by the testimony of numerous witnesses. Here are just a few examples from this list:

In the summer of 1912, many newspapers in Great Britain described a mysterious story that happened on the train express from London to Glasgow. In the presence of two passengers (a Scotland Yard inspector and a young nurse), an elderly man appeared in the car on a seat near the window with a terrible cry. His clothes were of a strange cut, his hair was braided. In one hand he held a long whip, in the other a bitten piece of bread. “I am Pimp Drake, the charioteer from Chetnam,” wailed the man, trembling with fear. - Where I am? Where am I?"

The inspector ran after the conductor, telling the girl to look after the strange Mr. Drake. When he returned to his carriage, he saw that the driver had disappeared, and the nurse was in a faint. The called conductor at first thought that he was being played, but material evidence of what had happened remained on the seat - a whip and a three-cornered hat. Experts from the National Museum, who were shown these objects, confidently determined the time from which they originated - the second half of the 18th century.

A curious inspector visited the pastor of the parish to which the village of Chetnam was assigned, and asked to look for an entry in church books about a man named Pimp Drake. In the book of the dead 150 years ago, the local priest found not only the name of the unfortunate driver, but also the postscript of the then pastor, made in the margins.

From it it followed that, already an elderly man, Drake suddenly began to tell an incredible story. As if one night, returning home on a wagon, he saw right in front of him a "devil's carriage" - an iron one, huge, long like a snake, bursting with fire and smoke. Then the driver somehow ended up inside - there were strange people there, probably servants of the devil. Frightened, Drake called for the help of the Lord and again found himself in an open field. There were no carts or horses. Drake, shocked by what had happened, barely dragged himself home. And, apparently, he never returned to his sanity, repeating the story of the "devil's crew" until the end of his days.

The Inspector of Scotland Yard told the Royal Metapsychic Society about what had happened and his subsequent investigations. They thoroughly checked the case, repeating the path of Drake's search. The cocked hat is still kept in the museum of the society. The beach was lost - becoming, obviously, the prey of souvenir lovers.

An equally mysterious story can be found in the archives of the New York police. In November 1952, an unknown man was hit by a car on Broadway in the evening. He died on the spot. The driver and witnesses assured that the victim "appeared on the street suddenly, as if fallen from above."

The body was taken to the morgue. The police noticed that the deceased was wearing an old-fashioned suit. They were even more surprised by the identity card issued 80 years ago. In the pocket of the victim, business cards were also found indicating the profession - a traveling salesman. One of the detectives checked the address on the business card and found out that this street was liquidated more than half a century ago...

In the old police archive, they checked the lists of residents of this area at the end of the last century. There they found a mysterious traveling salesman - both the surname and the address coincided with the details of the business card. All people with this surname living in New York were interviewed. They found an old woman who said that her father disappeared 70 years ago under mysterious circumstances - he went for a walk along Broadway and did not return. She presented the police with a photograph in which a young man, remarkably similar to a man who was hit by a car, was holding a girl in his arms, smiling. The photograph was dated - April 1884 ...

The "Time Loop", according to eyewitnesses, is capable of transferring not only individuals, but also much more bulky objects in a year: entire buildings or ships. And the legends about the ghostly "Flying Dutchmen", allegedly wandering in the ocean, may have a very real basis.

A strange incident occurred in the Atlantic in the early morning of July 11, 1881. A British warship nearly collided with an ancient frigate. Attempts to contact the crew were unsuccessful. The frigate skipped by, as if not noticing the British ship. This incident became known due to the fact that the eyewitness of the mysterious meeting was the Prince of Wales, the future King George V, and then still a young naval officer who served.

One of the active figures of the Royal Metapsychic Society, Sir Jeremy Blackstaff, being at a reception at Buckingham Palace about the award of his order, was honored with a conversation with His Majesty and did not fail to take advantage of this opportunity - he asked permission to ask a question about a long-standing meeting in the Atlantic Ocean. It turned out that King George remembered the incident well and described it in some detail.

The mysterious ship resembled a clipper ship, with wooden masts and ornate superstructures. Such vessels had already ceased to sail in those days. But most of all, the sailors were struck by the fact that the oncoming ship "had its own wind" - its sails were inflated in a completely different direction than the north-east blowing that day could do.

With the permission of His Majesty, these data have been placed in the Annual Report of the Metapsychic Society. The reporters continued their search and found more sailors who had witnessed the meeting with this "Flying Dutchman". They added to the story of King George, saying that the strange ship was going surprisingly smoothly, although that day it was stormy, and the wake behind it was practically not visible: "It was as if it were a ghost, and not a real ship!"

The mysterious meeting is also mentioned in the diaries of the monarch, published after his death. This case was included in the list of unexplained…

There are many legends about people who got to the glades where the fairies arrange their holidays. After dancing the night away, people returned home and found out that years had passed during this time! In some of these legends, as well as in the story at the Ostankino Tower, a strange fog is mentioned ...

Of course, many stories with mysterious disappearances can be an honest delusion or just a hoax. And if we assume that at least some of them correspond to the theories and assumptions put forward? ..

According to official figures, up to 120,000 people disappear in Russia every year, and every year this figure increases by 15%. Subsequently, about 80% of the missing are found. People are disappearing in almost every corner of the earth. In countries involved in military conflicts, the number of missing people is much higher than in those that do not participate in hostilities. For example, in Iraq for the period 1980-2007. about a million people disappeared. In Yugoslavia, 17,000 people went missing in the 1990s. And in Africa, hundreds of thousands of people are listed as missing. Of course, most of the missing in the territories covered by interethnic and military conflicts are victims of the current situation. But even today, prosperous Germany annually loses more than 900 children without a trace, who cannot be found.

There are many versions of the reasons for these disappearances without a trace: the slave trade, the removal of organs, amnesia, the actions of terrorists or special services, going into sects, abduction by aliens, etc. No one can give a clear explanation for the circumstances of the disappearance of people.

Of the people who disappeared without a trace in Russia, some are found dead, some are in hospitals or homeless, but there are people who have been completely lost (they are called "lost").

Some experts believe that we are surrounded by a multi-layered world (like a pie) and “losers”, without their desire, accidentally fall into parallel worlds and cannot return from there.

So, Jane Lind, a professor at the University of California, claims that the culprit for the inexplicable disappearance of people are "black holes" that occur at a certain intersection of space and time. There are dozens of such "black holes" on Earth. Both individual people and entire cities can fail in them. Very rarely, but it happens that "black holes" throw out previously absorbed back.

In addition, just a few years ago, one of the British parapsychologists, Dan Forsythe, studied anomalous phenomena associated with one of the houses in a small town. Teenagers have disappeared without a trace in this house several times. According to the researcher, the house had a "black hole" into another world. Even in the ancient Vedic books, information was found about the existence of alternative worlds in space, which are actively developing and living. Democritus and Epicurus were sure that parallel worlds exist. It is possible that the Christian concepts of "hell" and "heaven" refer to these worlds, only in one there is peace and harmony, and in the other - fear and chaos.

Another common version of the disappearance of people is that earthlings are abducted by aliens.

And all these hypotheses, their initiators are trying to confirm with convincing facts. So, in August 1915, during the battle between the Turks and the British, a battalion of the Norfolk Regiment disappeared without a trace. This happened when the military unit was crossing the Sulva Valley to take the height, which is the stronghold of the enemy. 145 fighters entered the valley, which was shrouded in fog. Eyewitnesses who served in the 1st New Zealand Division claim that after the battalion entered the valley, the fog began to thicken before their eyes until it turned into a dense cloud. Then the cloud rose up, exposing the slopes of the valley, but there were no people there. The cloud was moving against the wind across a perfectly clear sky. In 1918, after the end of hostilities, there was an exchange of prisoners of war between the parties to the conflict, but not a single soldier from the missing battalion was among the prisoners of war. They were not seen, neither by other prisoners, nor by the Turks. The documents of this military company became available only in 1967, and they confirmed the circumstances of the disappearance of the British battalion.

In 1937, an entire division of the Chinese, consisting of three thousand soldiers, disappeared. This happened during the Japanese advance on Nanjing. The approach to the city was guarded by a Chinese division. But in the morning, the orderly of the Chinese commander Li Fushi reported to his commander that the defense line was empty and there was not a single fighter in it. During the examination, they did not find a single corpse, nor traces of a night battle. Three thousand people could not leave their positions unnoticed - and yet people disappeared without a trace. The Chinese government conducted an investigation into this fact after the war, but the situation could not be clarified.

Efforts to find the 600 inhabitants of the Brazilian village of Hoer Verde, who disappeared in February 1923, have long ceased. And the search for British pilots who made an emergency landing in 1924. During the investigation, traces of the pilots were found, which suddenly broke off. The same unknown fate befell the Eskimos who lived on the shores of Lake Anzhikuni (Canada). In 1930, they disappeared: all the kayaks remained on the shore, weapons and utensils were preserved in the houses, and sled dogs died of hunger and were found frozen under a layer of snow, which the Eskimos would never have allowed.

In 2001, UN staff arrived with humanitarian aid in one of the remote villages of the Congo. There were no hostilities in the region, but the missionaries did not find anyone in the village, including domestic animals.

About 30 years ago, there was a wedding in a southern town. The newlyweds retired to one of the outbuildings. The guests knowingly pretended not to notice this. After some time, the search for "fugitives" began, but no traces were found - the bride and groom were carried through the ground. The owner of the back room remembered that earlier in this back room the cook of the establishment had just as mysteriously disappeared. Many years have passed, but traces of "losses" have not been found.

Rescuers who participated in the search for the group of film director S. Bodrov, who disappeared in the Karmadon Gorge, talk about the strange disappearance of the film crew - the bodies seem to have evaporated in the air. Locals believe that people accidentally fell into a parallel world.

One of the versions of the disappearance was the transition of people to a parallel world. Specialists in parallel worlds suggest that the door to the parallel world opens by accident, and this could be provoked, for example, by a magnetic storm.

The famous Russian scientist and traveler is sure that there are a lot of places on our planet that are tunnels to other worlds. For example, the Egyptian pyramids may well be such a place. The pyramids contain many unsolved mysteries and it is possible that they are an encrypted message and a "door" to alternative worlds. Poltergeist, lamb and Bigfoot may well be residents of parallel worlds. So, a cryptozoologist from the Novgorod region claims to have seen a yeti in the forest. When he noticed that he was being followed, he hid behind a tree. The scientist investigated the meeting place with the Yeti and is sure that Bigfoot has gone to his own parallel world. It seems that individual representatives of alternative worlds, having found a door to our world, come here in order to hunt animals (perhaps they have problems with food). This is confirmed by the stories of Siberian villagers who saw huge "hairy people" who stole pigs and cows from them.

In addition, today the world is very alarmed by the information about the increasing number of UFO sightings. There are a growing number of cases where someone left the house for five minutes and did not return. The population of entire villages disappears without a trace. Drifting ships continue to be found in the oceans, without a single person. And the number of disappearances is constantly growing. Rumors are spreading about found dead animals, about kidnappings and the sampling of genetic material. These assumptions are directly related to the interest of aliens in all life on Earth. It is not known whether this interest is part of a plan to take over the Earth, or whether aliens are trying to save earthly civilization from fatal mistakes.

So, many contactees claim that the aliens are now only studying us, and the greatest interest of the aliens is the level of our development and activities to deplete the planet's resources. Many believe that the visible messages that appear on the surface of the Earth (for example, crop circles) are an attempt by aliens to either establish contact with earthlings or warn of impending danger.

The few information about UFOs that the inhabitants of the planet possess confirms the indisputable fact that the alien civilization has a higher level of development than the earthly one. According to one version, aliens use earthlings as genetic material to maintain their own existence. Perhaps this is the reason why a huge number of people around the world go missing.

In order for humanity to consider the aliens as benefactors, they return individual abductees to Earth, inspiring them with information about the exclusively peaceful goals pursued by them in relation to earthlings.

So, in 1986, the English magazine UFO Magazine reported on an unusual find. On the banks of the Brazilian Guapiranga River, the remains of a man were found with traces of a "surgical operation" performed in a way unknown to modern surgeons.

In addition, once American soldiers were sent to the area of the White Sands missile range to search for rocket debris. To complete the task faster, the military dispersed in opposite directions. Returning to the car, the officer heard the screams of the sergeant. Running to the scream, the military man saw a terrible picture: an aircraft hovered over the sergeant, from which a huge tentacle extended, embracing the sergeant. Pulling the man inside, the aircraft sped off at great speed.

The annual loss of people over many centuries causes a lot of versions. And the fact that humanity has not found an explanation for these facts confirms that we do not have the necessary level of knowledge and development capable of revealing the mystery of the disappearance of earthlings without a trace.

The disappearance of people without a trace.

Back in the 1970s, the journal Nauka i Zhizn took the risk of publishing statistics on the disappearance of people without a trace, albeit based on foreign data. The figures were quite frightening: in countries such as England, France, Italy, the number of citizens who disappeared without a trace ranged from 5,000 to 20,000 people a year! With the onset of glasnost, we also published similar data. On the territory of the former USSR, there were 85,000 missing people per year, and the causes of the disappearance could only be identified in about 60,000 cases.

Once, guests came to a Muscovite. The conversation dragged on, the cigarettes ran out, and the owner, apologizing, threw on his jacket and, in slippers, went down to the grocery store located in the next entrance. But he did not appear in the grocery store, just as he did not return home. No traces of the missing owner of the apartment could be found.

In the summer of 1973, three Leningrad students went to the Crimea. On the train, we met two girls who were on their way there. In Simferopol, getting off the train, they agreed that they would meet at the trolleybus stop in order to go to Yalta together. But the girls waited for them in vain - the guys never showed up. And only after returning to Leningrad, one of them learned from her friend that three students who had also gone to the Crimea had disappeared from her at the institute. The signs matched, and the girl herself turned to the police. The young men were a very memorable group in cowboy hats, with a guitar, noisy and broken. Two guys were athletes, engaged in Japanese martial arts.

Another incident that occurred in the United States in the last century attracted the attention of the creator of the immortal image of Sherlock Holmes, the writer Conan Doyle. A certain family left the house, going for a walk, but the father of the family, remembering that he had forgotten his umbrella, returned to the house. Nobody ever saw him again. In 1936, a group of geologists settled in the village of Elizavetino near Krasnoyarsk. A few days later, returning home from the next route, the geologists saw a completely extinct village! Things in the houses remained intact, two bicycles lay on the main village street. One of the geologists, now a professor, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences Barsukov, still remembers with a shudder the horror they experienced when they tried to enter a house whose door was closed from the inside! I had to break the glass, and then it turned out that the door was barricaded from the inside with household utensils. A large family of four adults and three children lived in the house. Geologists reported the incident to the local department of the NKVD, and a car with employees quickly arrived from there. However, the search was unsuccessful, and the geologists took a non-disclosure agreement about this case. As Barsukov said, after some time he was summoned to Moscow, to the NKVD, where he again testified on this case.

In 1987, our press reported on the disappearance of a small amateur expedition from Tomsk, which set off in search of a mysterious "devil's lair" - a clearing with bare earth where all living things die. However, the true story of the missing expedition came to light only recently. There was one girl in the group. Two guys were from Novosibirsk. It was assumed that at the final point of the route, where the group got off the train, two local enthusiasts would join it. All the guys were experienced tourists, they walked through the Siberian taiga more than once, they had firearms and signal equipment with them. In Tomsk, they boarded a train and, according to the testimony of the train crew, all got off the train safely at the designated place. And then oddities began: two local enthusiasts who were supposed to join the expedition were told that the train from Tomsk was three hours late, and they went home to wait out this time. But the engineer reduced the delay to two hours, and when the enthusiasts came to the station again, the train had already left. No one saw the guys who arrived from Tomsk. The station attendant was saying something unintelligible: it seems that some guys got off the train, but where they went is unknown. A day later, a telegram sent to Tomsk received an answer that the group had left at the appointed time.

Unfortunately, the police joined the search only three days later, when the people who could see the guys had already left. Nobody saw them anywhere else, it seemed that the group disappeared immediately after leaving the train.

In 1947, a C-46 passenger plane with 32 people on board crashed in the Rocky Mountains in the United States. Rescuers arrived at the accident site relatively quickly, but found only a mangled fuselage and no traces of passengers or crew. That's when one of the rescuers had a crazy idea that people disappeared from the plane in the air!

And here is a recent case with a Brazilian businessman. His plane "Cessna" fell into shallow water literally a hundred meters from the shore in front of many people. The rescuers hardly opened the doors, which jammed when they hit the water, but there was no one to save - the cabin was empty! The police put forward the traditional version: a businessman who was flying with his wife to friends for a holiday, for some reason threw his young wife overboard and threw himself. But this version had to be discarded: the doors of the plane were locked from the inside!

Let us pay attention to the fact that rare cases of such disappearances, confirmed by witnesses, occur almost instantly, without any sound or light effects. But is such a “miracle” possible in principle in nature? Let us turn to the monograph by L. E. Gurevich and E. B. Gliner “The General Theory of Relativity after Einstein” (Znanie publishing house, 1972). Its authors argue that in reality there are "theoretically inevitable" special points at which bodies either appear or disappear from the world around us.

World history knows many cases when people in whole groups went missing. And sometimes these disappearances cannot be explained. Several such cases will be discussed in our article.

Steamboat "Varata"

In the summer of 1909, the steamer "Warata", on board of which there were about 200 people, was heading from Melbourne, Australia to Cape Town, South Africa. En route, he made a scheduled stop in Durban. Here one of the passengers got off the ship, who was concerned about the behavior of the steamer during the voyage.

"Warata" left the port of Durban on July 26 and continued her journey. The next day he met with another ship - "Clan Macintyre". It was then that the ship was seen for the last time, because it never arrived in Cape Town or another port. Later, there were eyewitnesses claiming to have seen debris and bodies in the water, but there was no reliable evidence of the crash.

In the 1980s, unsuccessful attempts were made to find a steamboat. The fate of "Warata" remains a mystery to this day.

Inhabitants of Aztalan

On the territory of the US state of Wisconsin are the remains of the Indian city of Aztalan. This settlement was first discovered by settlers in 1836.

The city had stepped pyramids and cone-shaped burial mounds. Found household items testified that the locals were engaged in agriculture and fishing. According to the legends, these people built great pyramids in the valley of Mills Lake. Later this place was flooded, so it is very difficult to verify the authenticity of this story.

Approximately 7-10 centuries ago, the population of Atztalan reached 500 people. But at the beginning of the 14th century, for unknown reasons, the city was empty. There are several explanations, among which - a lack of resources or aggression from neighboring settlements.

9th Roman legion

The ninth legion of the Roman Empire is a military formation in which about 5 thousand soldiers and officers served. It was stationed in the north of England during the British occupation. The purpose of the unit was to deter attacks from the indigenous inhabitants of the island. In 108, the legion settled in the city of York. This was the last mention of him.

No one can say for sure what happened to the ninth legion. It is known that 14 years later, when the Sixth Legion entered York, the city was empty. Perhaps all the Roman soldiers were destroyed by the rebellious mountaineers. There is also a version that the detachment was sent to another place, but there is no evidence for this.

The disappearance of the L-1049 airliner over the Pacific Ocean

On March 16, 1962, a Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation was on Flight 739. On board the plane were 96 US troops bound for Vietnam. On the way there were several stops for refueling, and at first everything went according to plan. However, after taking off from Guam, the plane never landed for a final refueling in the Philippines.

During this flight, the crew reported on all their actions in a timely manner, and then a strange request was received to change the altitude from 10 to 16 thousand feet. After another two hours, communication with the aircraft was interrupted, and he himself disappeared from all radars.

The most likely cause of Flight 739's disappearance was a mid-air explosion. However, none of the nearby control towers received a distress signal. In addition, absolutely no debris was found during the search and rescue operation.

Since this type of airliner was considered very reliable, it was hard to believe in a mechanical failure. Representatives of the airline suggested that the plane could have been hijacked, but it was never found anywhere. The fate of flight number 739 and its passengers remained unknown.

Population of Great Zimbabwe

The name of the African country Zimbabwe, meaning "stone houses", was taken from the name of the mysterious city - Great Zimbabwe. It was a large settlement - approximately 18 thousand inhabitants. This civilization was quite advanced: people were able to build stone walls up to three floors high. All the more strange seems their disappearance about 400 years ago.

Now Great Zimbabwe is a completely abandoned city. His buildings are built of granite slabs, fastened together using a method that can do without mortar. A large number of things were found here, according to which scientists were able to study the culture and life of the local population. As it turned out, the townspeople knew how to make metal things, were actively engaged in trade, and were also religious.

Despite the many finds, there is no single theory that could shed light on the fate of the inhabitants of the city. When asked what happened several centuries ago to a large city, it is unlikely that an exact answer will ever be given.

Ship "Poet"

During World War II, this ship served as a transport ship. After the end of hostilities, "Poet" was mothballed and stood idle for more than 20 years. Later it was bought out and again began to be used for its intended purpose, until in October 1980 the ship, along with the captain and an experienced crew of 33 people, mysteriously disappeared.

October 24 "Poet" headed from Philadelphia to Egypt with a cargo of corn. The next day, a storm raged in the northern part of the Atlantic, but it did not pose a great danger to a ship of this class. When the hurricane ended, the ship disappeared without a trace without any distress signal.

There were several versions of the disappearance - from flooding as a result of a hole to the criminal negligence of the owner of the ship, who was silent about the loss of contacts with the Poet. Only one thing is clear: such ships do not sink without a reason, but it will be very difficult to recognize it.

Link 19

Shortly after the end of World War II, another strange disappearance occurred. In December 1945, five American bombers made a training flight in the Bahamas. After completing the task, the link returned to the base, but for some reason flew in a completely different direction. In addition, the weather was rapidly deteriorating, and soon the planes disappeared from the radar.

A large-scale rescue operation was immediately organized, in which hundreds of aircraft and dozens of ships were used. However, no signs of the missing link were found.

As it turned out, not only these planes became victims of the Bermuda Triangle that day. Two hydroplanes that flew to look for the missing bombers also disappeared without a trace. Until a rational explanation for these losses has been found, the version about the fault of the mystical Bermuda Triangle seems to be true.

Moche civilization

This South American culture existed in what is now Peru between the first and ninth centuries. According to archaeological research, these people knew how to process metals well, they even mastered gilding and soldering. They had a field irrigation system capable of feeding up to 25,000 inhabitants. However, at a certain period of history, they disappeared without a trace.

According to one version, the El Niño storm that raged in the 6th-7th century could be to blame. After 30 years of heavy rains, a thirty-year drought set in, with which the inhabitants could not cope. There were also versions according to which civilization was exterminated by neighboring tribes, but no traces of hostilities were found. Unfortunately, the trace of this mysterious culture is lost forever.

5th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment

This British detachment, which took part in the First World War, was formed mainly from volunteers. After training, the battalion landed on the Gallipoli peninsula in 1915, where it faced the task of leading Turkey out of the war. The detachment arrived at the place on August 10, and two days later the soldiers went into their first battle, which was also their last.

The Allied attack was very poorly thought out. Without accurate maps in battle against a well-trained enemy, the regiment was doomed to defeat.

During the attack, the 5th battalion pursued the enemy in the burning forest and never returned from there. At first there were versions that the soldiers were ambushed and captured. However, there was not a single mention of such prisoners of war in the records of the Turkish government. Later, there were eyewitnesses who claim that they saw a cloud enveloping the soldiers, who then simply disappeared. True or not, the fate of the 5th Battalion of the Norfolk Regiment has remained an unsolved mystery.

A murder case is initiated on the basis of the fact that a person has disappeared under circumstances that suggest his murder. If there is not enough data to suggest the murder of a missing person, then the investigator, with the help of a police officer, checks the report of the missing person. Its whereabouts are revealed:

1) At the place of work - whether he was a victim of industrial injuries.

2) In police stations - whether he was detained, whether he was arrested for any offense.

3) In temporary detention facilities and those under arrest.

4) In hospitals - whether he is placed for treatment.

5) In an institution for organized recruitment of labor - whether he received a job assignment in another city.

6) At the military commissariat - whether the missing person was drafted into the army in the absence of relatives, without notifying them of this.

7) With relatives, in particular at the place of birth or friends - whether he temporarily lives with them, without informing his relatives about this.

8) In the morgue - is there his corpse.

9) In the body conducting forensic records - is the missing person registered under the section of unidentified corpses.

10) In cases of disappearance of a person with a car - to the department of the State Road Safety Inspectorate, - whether the car, along with which the victim disappeared, was detained by the services of the department.

11) If the disappeared person had a cell phone with him - according to the telephone companies.

Checks in relation to a disappeared child are carried out in orphanages, reception centers, and in relation to physically handicapped and old people, respectively, in homes for the disabled and the elderly. The check must be sufficiently thorough and give reliable knowledge of the presence or absence of grounds for initiating a case.

Thus, the fact of a person's death due to illness must be accurately established by interviews of his relatives, a doctor's certificate or a message from a medical institution. When reporting the fact of finding a person who was listed as missing, it is best to verify this with your own eyes.

A decision to refuse to initiate a criminal case can be made only if it is completely certain that the murder of a certain person did not take place. This decision must contain sufficiently convincing reasons for the refusal. It is expedient to send a copy of the specified decision to the one who applied to the law enforcement agency with a statement about the disappearance of a person or his murder.

Grounds for initiating a criminal case on the fact of the disappearance of a person

The following signs, which directly indicate that the missing person has become a victim of a crime, may be sufficient grounds for resolving the issue of initiating a criminal case based on the materials of an investigation into a missing person:

  • lack of data on the intention to leave, reasons for hiding from relatives their departure or leaving home for a long time, the presence of personal documents and things that a person cannot do without in case of a long absence;
  • the young age of the victim, the absence of a disease that can cause sudden death, loss of memory, orientation in time or space;
  • disappearance with vehicles or a large amount of cash, valuables;
  • constant conflicts in the family, threats against the disappeared person, criminal connections;
  • conflicting explanations and illogical behavior of those who had contact with the missing person before the disappearance;
  • detection during the search for traces, obtaining other information indicating the possible commission of a crime.

If the results of the check are negative and there are no reasons for the secret departure of the wanted person, there is a basis for initiating a case on his murder.

It should be borne in mind that untimely initiation of a criminal case is fraught with very undesirable consequences. The murderer remaining at large is capable of committing another, the same or a different crime, of destroying the traces of the murder he committed. Traces can be irreversibly changed or destroyed under the influence of unfavorable external forces of nature. The circumstances of the crime as perceived by the witnesses may be largely erased from their memory. Timely and sufficient justified initiation of a criminal case is one of the necessary conditions for a successful investigation.

Features of the investigation in the case initiated in connection with the disappearance of a person

It was noted above that if the search for a missing person turns out to be fruitless and there are any signs characteristic of murder, it is necessary to initiate a criminal case and proceed with the investigation, despite the absence of a corpse.

The absence of a corpse is usually explained by the fact that it is either destroyed, or hidden, or, although it has not been hidden, it has not yet been discovered. The corpses are destroyed by criminals in various ways, including by burning (in a household stove, boiler furnace, on a fire, etc.), by means of any chemically active aggressive liquid, for example, a concentrated solution of caustic soda. The places where the corpses are hidden are very diverse. If the offender lives in a private house, the corpse may be buried in the underground, barn, barn, garden, orchard. Regardless of the type of settlement, corpses are often buried in the ground in a wasteland, in a forest, in a ravine, buried in an anthill, immured in the wall of a building under construction, dumped into a well with water or a sewer well, into a pond, lake, river, swamp.

Some elements of the forensic characteristics of murders associated with the destruction and concealment of corpses

It has been noted that the statement about the disappearance of a certain person, filed by a person living together with the disappeared person (his relative, family member), usually does not contain an indication of the murder as the reason for the disappearance, while the report of a person who does not live together with the disappeared person, including a relative , the thought of a possible murder is often encountered, and sometimes even the alleged killer is called.

It should be emphasized that the majority of the perpetrators of this category of murders were not only in close relations with the victim, but were also clearly aware that this connection was well known to those around them.

Often, having killed a loved one and taking measures to destroy or hide the corpse, such a person comes up with some false explanation for the disappearance of the victim: he left for another area to get a job or visit relatives or friends; disappeared in order to avoid the punishment that threatened him, arrest; lost as a minor or mentally handicapped person; committed suicide somewhere, died a natural death due to illness or old age (for example, having gone into the forest to pick mushrooms); admitted to hospital; died from an accident, etc.

Being unable to destroy or reliably hide the corpse of a loved one, not wanting to burden himself with this, the offender often makes the corpse unrecognizable, for which: he hides the severed head of the victim or disfigures his face; cuts off the skin from the nail phalanges of the fingers (for those who are fingerprinted); removes documents from the pockets of the dead person or hides, destroys his clothes, shoes and headgear.

The concealment of a corpse by a criminal who was not in close relations with the victim is typical for persons who commit murder in their home or are usually located at the scene of the murder by the nature of their activity (boiler room, gatehouse, etc.).

At the initial stage of the investigation, the interrogation of witnesses is extremely important, primarily to find out who benefited from the death of the victim. It is necessary to start with the person who declared the disappearance of the person, relatives, colleagues, friends and acquaintances of the missing person, with whom he most often communicated. They can tell about the life of the disappeared, about the intentions and plans for the future, about the character and habits, about his past. The study of these details can often lead to the probable reasons for the murder, and even to the perpetrator himself.

The main question in the interrogations of all these persons is aimed at establishing with whom the victim was in hostile or openly hostile relations. Then questions should follow about what the nature of the conflict was, when, and in connection with what it arose, how it developed, what the victim said about it, whether one enemy threatened the other, when they last met, where under what circumstances, in whose presence, how they behaved then, what phrases they exchanged.

It is equally important, by interrogating witnesses, to find out who, where, when, under what circumstances last saw the missing person, did anyone talk about his departure or departure from home, and, in turn, did the missing person mention a desire where to leave; whether anyone expected his arrival: if so, by what time. During interrogations, it is advisable to ask how the missing person looked like, whether the interrogated people have his photographs (if any, they are seized for search purposes). It is subject to clarification what things, including clothes, shoes, a headdress, as well as documents, money (in what amount) were or could be with the disappeared person, what disappeared from his belongings and what remained at home.

It is interesting to ask the interrogated how the missing person was characterized at the place of work and residence, in the circle of his acquaintances; what character traits he possessed, what habits he had, including bad ones. If earlier there were temporary, more or less long absences from his place of permanent residence, it becomes clear when, where, for how long he leaves, whether he warned his relatives or friends about absences. Answers to the following questions may be of considerable interest: what was the behavior of the person who filed a statement about the disappearance of a person after he made a report about the disappearance of a person, as well as the behavior of all relatives of the missing person (what was done in connection with the disappearance, to whom and what was told in connection with this incident ).

Other particularly important priority actions are the search and inspection of the apartment (house) as a possible place of murder. They are carried out when there is reason to believe that the murder was committed there. In this case, it is necessary to look for: a corpse, its parts and traces of destruction (fragments of bones, pieces of muscle tissue, etc.); traces of blood on parts of the room, furnishings, clothes, shoes, headgear, other things of the disappeared person, in cracks, for example, between floorboards, tiles, near baseboards. It is not out of place to ask if there are signs of removal of traces of blood, including areas of the floor, walls with fresh paint, features characteristic of scraping or washing off blood splashes, drops, prints. In this regard, it is advisable to involve relevant specialists and experts: a forensic expert, a forensic expert from the police department, the police department.

It is advisable to look for weapons and traces of their use (damage, spent bullets, cartridge cases, shot, buckshot, wads), as well as poisonous substances, strong acids. Significant benefits can be brought by the traces of the hands of a potential criminal and the disappeared person found at the same time. Traces of the latter may be useful for identifying his personality in the event that a disfigured corpse is found.

Attention should be paid to the documents and things of the missing person, without which he usually did not leave home (watches, glasses, handbag, etc.), as well as the correspondence of the missing person, his notebooks, notepads, the contents of which can shed light on the event under investigation. It is recommended to remove and scrupulously inspect the oven ash, which may contain bone remains, teeth of a corpse, fireproof parts of the victim's clothing fittings (buckle, hooks, metal buttons), as well as jewelry (earrings, rings, etc.).

Upon discovery of bone and other remains of the destroyed corpse, a forensic medical examination is appointed. The most common task it solves is to establish their belonging to the human body. The task can also be set to try to determine the sex and age of the victim. The presence on the remains, including found teeth, of traces of intravital injuries, illnesses, medical intervention, combined with the X-ray image and medical record of the alleged victim available at the medical institution, allows us to hope for a solution to the question of whether the remains belong to a certain person. When hair is found, and relatives of the disappeared person have samples of his hair, the expert, in a favorable case, establishes their individual affiliation, in other cases, at least, will answer the question of whether their belonging to a person who, according to the available version, was killed is not excluded. Hair must be presented for examination with a bulb (pulling out hair).

The development of forensic science, in particular biological research, currently makes it possible to work with small and small research objects.

When it is known that there is human blood on an object or clothing, then in any case, a biological examination is appointed first, where the carrier object itself should be presented. If the object of study is small, then it is immediately necessary to appoint a biological examination, and then, if necessary, a genetic examination.

It is also possible that the cause of death has not been established, and the forensic medical diagnosis is established based on the testimony of eyewitnesses, witnesses. For example, in cases of detection of parts of a dismembered corpse. The investigator needs to appeal to the population with a request to help in the search; the necessary initial data for this, in appropriate cases, are published in the local press, broadcast on radio, television, etc.

Further investigation into the case initiated in connection with the disappearance of the victim

Although the verification process has already collected refuting to a certain extent the assumption that the disappeared person is alive, nevertheless, measures to search for him must still be actively carried out in the process of investigating the case, up to the indisputable establishment of the fact of the death of the disappeared person or finding him alive. In parallel, the search for the alleged corpse of the disappeared person is also underway. The need for these measures (specific for cases of this category) poses a number of special, additional tasks for the investigator.

So, in order to search for a disappeared person, it is necessary to send a number of requests, make inquiries, taking into account the data on the identity of the disappeared person, give an assignment to the body of inquiry in accordance with Part 4 of Article 127 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the RSFSR, striving to use all procedural and operational measures at all costs needed to solve this problem.

At the same time, in order to search for the corpse, it is necessary to establish whether, during the period that has passed since the disappearance of the victim, an unidentified corpse (or parts of the corpse) of a person was found, the signs of which coincide with the signs of the disappeared. To do this, the necessary requests must be sent to those prosecutor's offices, departments of internal affairs, as well as morgues, ambulances and hospitals, which are located in the area of the last residence of the disappeared and in the places of the proposed route of his trip. The requests describe in detail the signs of the disappeared person, his clothes, shoes and things that were with him, indicate the date of disappearance and attach a photograph of this person.
